As African music continues to make its way further beyond the borders of the continent, it is important to pause and take moments to have conversations about what the cultural shift means for the industry as a whole.
In line with this, Melanin Unscripted curated a panel in partnership with SONY RCA on December 31st, 2019 in Accra, Ghana to discuss breaking African music globally with some of the leading voices in music on the continent and the diaspora. This included talents such as singer songwriter, Amaarae; Executive VP of A&R Tunji Balogun; General Manager, Music & Editorial, TRACE West Africa; Talent and PR Manager, Danai Mavunga; Director & Founder, North Production, David Nicol-sey; Music Journalist, Stephanie Smith-Strickland; and Digital Architect, IJEOMA Agency, Dimplez.
There was also a Q&A session with Superstar artist Davido which was closed out with an afterparty with sounds from Juls, DJ Vyrusky, and Mercedes Benson.
