Davido: ‘A Good Time’ Album Release

MELANIN UNSCRIPTED FOR RCA RECORDS

Melanin Unscripted was commissioned by RCA Records to lead PR and Marketing strategy in the U.S. for Davido’s 2x PLATINUM selling sophomore album “A Good Time”. We organized and facilitated events for the roll out weekend of Davido’s “A Good Time” Album in NYC including a talk at Columbia University, Dance Workshop with Top Afrobeat Dancer Izzy Odigie, and produced a styled shoot for GQ and Hypebeast Magazine. MU also led brand partnerships for album release and an influencer marketing campaign.

Workshop with Afrobeats Dancer Izzy Odigie

Choreographer and dancer Izzy Odigie hosted a special workshop in commemoration of Davido’s “A Good Time” album release. This was a first of its kind build out to have a major Afrobeat workshop in NYC dedicated to a newly released album. Izzy is one of the biggest Afro-dancers in America and has been featured on platforms like New York Times and Glamour Magazine. Collectively with her dance collective TRYBE and MU, the workshop brought some of the dopest afro dancers and influencers in NYC within the diaspora to come together and have “A Good Time”.

Davido Talk at Columbia University

Melanin Unscripted partnered with Columbia University's African Students Association to host a talk with Davido hosted by Melanin Unscripted founder Amarachi Nwosu. We discussed his ‘A Good Time’ album release, the rise of African music, and the genre's future. This intimate gathering brought together future thought leaders, press, media and music industry leaders for a unique engagement.

GQ Style Story

“African music is more global than it has ever been and at the forefront of modern Afro pop is Nigerian musician Davido, who is making a unique lane for himself without cooperating African sound. Born David Adeleke in Atlanta Georgia, Davido is a 27-year old singer, songwriter, and record producer who continues to take the world by storm with countless hits since his debut in 2011.” - Ekow Barnes
